JIALÀNG ÇAI - FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER, DIRECTOR
New York-based Fashion photographer, and independent film director. Cai set out from New York with the unique thinking angle of the Easterners. His work is exquisitely and meticulously composed, showing his thinking and attention to the dark side of human nature.
He specializes in shooting traditional Chinese portraits with professional film lights. He brings the characters' stories to life in picture from combining elegant whites of traditional Chinese ink paintings and ornate western oil paintings styles. Throughout deep excavation of things at different perspectives and latitudes in the work gives Çai’s picture more delicate philosophical thinking. His works are deeply influenced by masters of the Lumières, Antonioni, Noney, Nolan, Godar, and other artistic masters, which use the concept of time, story, and pioneer aesthetics, to give a deeper narrative of a plane picture. Çai’s work has an oriental natural soft and gentle gene, absorbing the free and unrestrained cultural trends of western modern art surrealism such as Dali, Picasso, and Matisse. The art of blending the East and the West collides with more personal works of Çai.
Learning dynamic photography technology and professional electronic lighting in China has made him appear in the Chinese photography industry. His works have been exhibited many times at photo exhibitions, including the Chang'an Photography Exhibition. In recent years, he has come to the United States with superb skills and a unique personal style to continue to study fashion photography in post-graduate schools. Internationally, he has been widely praised by the fashion industry including online publishing by VOGUE and the world's top galleries in Lens Culture.
Çai aspires to maintain a complete emotion in his work, he hopes to break the boundaries of perception and let art be touched by unforeseen perceptions. Entering the fantastic world of artists through the picture, even if it is impacted by the era of fragmentation, the image can still maintain a complete emotional transmission.
